For retired MLB players, staying active is important.
Work gives one’s life purpose and perspective, and it never hurts to have an occupation after retirement.
It doesn’t matter if the player earned millions of dollars: if he wants to keep his mind occupied and be part of something important, he has every right to contribute to the society.
Retired MLB star Albert Pujols, who had a dream walk season with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2022, was a part of the Los Angeles Angels‘ organization from 2012 until 2021, when he was released.
He signed a ten-year, $240 million deal with them.
He also has a current 10-year, $10 million personal services contract with them.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Blum, he plans to honor that contract.
“Albert Pujols said he’s committed to fulfilling his 10-year personal services contract with the Angels. His official title is special assistant. He’ll work with Perry, the coaching staff, prospects in the DR, etc,” Blum tweeted.

A person like Pujols has so much to offer an MLB franchise.
For now, he is in the Angels’ camp as a guest instructor, helping players with their preparation for the season.
It should be a nice transition for him, having been retired for the last few months.
He knows the game, he knows how to hit, and he obviously has a lot of knowledge to share.
Having been around some great players during his career, identifying talent should also come easy for him, which is why he could advise and assist general manager Perry Minasian in his duties.
It should be fascinating to learn what exactly is in Pujols’ future.
